The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Pediatrics is seeking outstanding physicians or physician-scientists to join the Hematology/Oncology Division at the UT Southwestern Medical Center.
The successful candidate will have dual roles 1) providing care to children with cancer or blood diseases and 2) developing clinical translational or laboratory research programs addressing questions that are fundamentally important as we strive to improve outcomes for children with these diseases.
Although we have broad interests particular areas of focus include:
Developing focused clinical expertise in caring for children with cancer or blood disease in inpatient and ambulatory practice settings primarily at Childrens Health Dallas.
Developing clinical and/or translational research programs focusing on the pathogenesis or important elements of clinical care delivery for childhood cancer or blood disease.
Considering opportunities for innovation and improvement in education and training of medical students pediatric residents and pediatric hematology/oncology fellows in the care of children with cancer or blood diseases.
The applicant will join a large and growing Hematology/Oncology Division with robust clinical research and educational programs that are already in place. He or she will enjoy the exceptionally rich biomedical research environment at UT Southwestern Medical Center including the NCI-designated Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center the McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development the Green Center for Systems Biology and the Childrens Medical Center Research Institute. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas and board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Clinical facilities include inpatient and outpatient facilities in the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Childrens Health Childrens Medical Center Dallas on the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus and Childrens Health Childrens Medical Center Plano; and outpatient facilities at UT Southwestern Frisco.
As one of the nations largest pediatric cancer and blood disease programs (approximately 350 new oncology and approximately 700 new hematology patients per year) in the nations fourth largest metropolitan area the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center offers a superb milieu for career development.
