Position Hours: Primarily 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; however this position must ensure that production functions are maintained 24/7 potentially requiring on-call availability or coverage through shift work.
Position Wage: Salary ranges from $75000 - $125000.
Salaries are based on a number of factors including the skills and experience of the candidates. It is common to be hired at the lower to middle end of a salary range and while it is possible to be hired at the higher end it often requires unique circumstances such as proven expertise.

Job Description:
Summary:
The Maintenance and Project Engineer will oversee the maintenance department ensuring the reliability and efficiency of all equipment and facilities critical to our heat treatment operations manage key projects related to equipment upgrades facility expansions and process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in scientific management principles such as predictive and preventive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Job Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Maintenance Management:
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy incorporating preventative predictive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Define the Basic Equipment Conditions (BEC) for all critical heat treating equipment by establishing clear standards for optimal operating conditions.
- Develop detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance tasks.
- Implement a Standardized Maintenance Checklist System to ensure consistency in daily weekly and monthly maintenance activities.
- The position requires a working knowledge of:
PneumaticsAC and DC circuits and systems
Burner operation and tuning
Hydraulics
Pipe fitting
Metal fabrication
Programable Logic Controllers (PLCS)
- Use data from equipment sensors performance logs and failure analysis to refine SOPs and ensure they address root causes of wear and tear or failure.
- Establish a process for regularly reviewing and updating maintenance procedures to incorporate technological advancements feedback from maintenance teams and lessons learned from equipment performance data.
- Ensure all maintenance procedures align with industry standards (e.g. AS911 ISO 9001 AMS 2750 for heat treating) and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (Bluestreak) to track equipment performance maintenance history failure trends and adherence to standardized procedures.
- Manage mentor and develop a team of maintenance technicians fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations identify skill gaps and coordinate training programs to enhance team capabilities for both maintenance and production staff.
- Promote a safety-first culture ensuring all maintenance and operator-led activities adhere to strict safety protocols.
- Develop project plans including timelines budgets and resource allocation ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead projects related to equipment upgrades facility expansions and process improvements to support the companys growth.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align maintenance TMP and project goals with the companys strategic vision.
- Participate and Chair Departmental Maintenance Meetings.
Training and Development of Maintenance and Production Personnel:- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for maintenance technicians on standardized maintenance procedures.
- Provide hands-on training for specialized heat treatment equipment focusing on proper inspection lubrication calibration and repair techniques to maintain equipment at optimal conditions.
- Implement a Total Productive Maintenance (TMP) program to engage production personnel in routine equipment care and maintenance promoting accountability and increasing equipment uptime.

Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S. a lawful permanent resident a non-resident authorized to work in the U.S. without ThermTech sponsorship). ThermTech does not sponsor visas either at time of hire or at any later time.
- This position must satisfy ITAR (DSP-5) compliance requirements; therefore candidates must be a lawful permanent resident 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or a protected individual 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). Employment of Foreign Persons(s) 22 CFR 120.63 will be contingent on receiving the DSP-5 license from the US State Department.
- All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test & background check.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift including weekends.
- May be required to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of but are not limited to the following:- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in a non-climate controlled industrial environment
- Ability to bend pull stoop and reach to perform functions.
- Capable of lifting and carrying at least 25-pound objects throughout shift
- Must be exposed to heat fumes noise humidity etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must demonstrate the ability to read write and communicate in the English language.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform fundamental mathematical skills and concepts (e.g. addition subtraction multiplication division fractions decimals percentages and the basics of algebra and geometry).
- Visual acuity to read documents computer screens files etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related field
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in maintenance management. Manufacturing or heat treatment maintenance management preferred.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale complex projects.
- Familiarity with heat treatment equipment (e.g. furnaces quenching systems) preferred.
- Experience implementing TPM programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in analyzing equipment performance data and implementing predictive maintenance technologies.
Skills:
- Proficient computer skills in Bluestreak (ERP/MRP) Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing operational challenges.
- Excellent communication skills both with employees and customers.
