Job Summary:
This role is for a Certified Operating Room Technician with a minimum of two years of recent acute operating room experience. The technician will circulate and scrub during surgical procedures demonstrating proficiency in a range of surgical specialties and techniques. The position requires weekend availability and participation in a unit-determined schedule.

Responsibilities:
- Circulating and scrubbing during surgical procedures.
- Assisting surgeons and other surgical team members.
- Maintaining a sterile field and adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Handling and labeling specimens.
- Adhering to universal protocol (time-out) procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the surgical team.
- Participating in 36 hours of hospital orientation during the first week.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum two years of recent acute operating room experience (within the last six months).
- Proficiency in general OR procedures including laparoscopic-assisted cases tonsillectomies/adenoidectomies tracheostomies appendectomies cholecystectomies colon resections hernia repairs and other common surgical procedures.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique isolation precautions laser safety pressure ulcer prevention radiation safety sharps safety and specimen handling.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in hybrid OR settings.
- Proficiency in more complex surgical procedures (e.g. gastric bypass gastric sleeve lap band craniotomy spinal fusion total joint replacements).
Special Considerations:
- Weekend work is required (Saturday and Sunday shifts). Weekday shifts are also possible depending on unit needs.
- 36-hour work commitment if a holiday falls on a scheduled weekend shift.
- 16-17 week contracts accepted.
- No on-call or float requirements.
- 36 hours of unit orientation required during the first week.
- Scrubs will be provided.
Scheduling:
- Shift work including weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday).
- Shift times are DAYS (06:45-19:15).
- Scheduling is at the discretion of the unit.
