MUFG Bank is seeking for a Vice President - Team Lead Client Onboarding and KYC Oversight based in Hong Kong. This pivotal role is designed for someone who thrives on nurturing teams enhancing client experiences and driving operational excellence within the client onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) landscape.

  • Play a key role in transforming client onboarding processes by identifying roadblocks implementing proactive solutions and reducing turnaround times to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

  • Lead and nurture a collaborative team focused on risk awareness control enhancement and continuous improvement of KYC practices across multiple jurisdictions.

What youll do:

As Vice President - Team Lead Client Onboarding and KYC Oversight your day-to-day responsibilities will involve benchmarking current processes against industry standards identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions that streamline operations while maintaining rigorous compliance standards. You will be instrumental in developing insightful reporting mechanisms for senior management collaborating with regional teams to ensure alignment of best practices and providing hands-on leadership to junior colleagues.

  • Benchmark current client onboarding completion metrics and take strategic actions to improve efficiency and effectiveness throughout the process.

  • Identify obstacles within existing workflows and deliver thoughtful proactive solutions that enhance both internal operations and client satisfaction.

  • Develop comprehensive reporting tools for management and relationship managers to provide clear insights into onboarding progress and performance.

  • Drive reductions in turnaround times for client onboarding completions against established benchmarks to elevate the overall client experience.

  • Collaborate closely with regional client onboarding teams to ensure consistency in processes implemented across different jurisdictions.

  • Provide guidance mentorship and oversight to junior team members supporting their development into proactive risk-aware contributors within the control team.

  • Manage audits and respond promptly to enquiries from internal stakeholders ensuring transparency and compliance at all times.

  • Review critical controls regularly and implement enhancements that safeguard the banks interests in relation to KYC requirements.

  • Automate KYC metrics wherever possible to minimise manual intervention across all work streams increasing accuracy and efficiency.

  • Champion participation in initiatives aimed at creating a paperless work environment by reducing unnecessary printing and copying.

What you bring:

  • A proven track record of 10 to 15 years managing complex KYC projects with demonstrable success in delivering process enhancements that increase efficiency while reducing headcount requirements.

  • Degree holder or equivalent extensive experience within the KYC domain that showcases your deep understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Strong skills in building meaningful reports for management use that translate data into actionable insights for decision-making purposes.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-regional teams to ensure consistent implementation of policies while respecting local nuances.

  • Demonstrated capability in mentoring junior team members by fostering an environment of trust learning empathy and shared responsibility.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of audit procedures with the ability to manage stakeholder enquiries transparently and efficiently.

  • Expertise in reviewing existing controls related to KYC processes with an eye towards continuous improvement for enhanced protection of organisational interests.
