EHS Program Manager II

Job Summary(includes but is not limited to the following other duties may be assigned)

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program Manager II at Calpine is responsible for the implementation and ongoing oversight of major programs related to EHS and Learning and Development on a fleet-wide basis. Projects include but are not limited to facilitating the implementation and development of strategic EHS projects monitoring event trends participating in incident investigations communicating process changes and providing recommendations to Calpine Management regarding critical items. The programs managed by the Program Manager are to provide consistent implementation of the program throughout the Calpine Fleet improving operational reliability and efficiency. This role ensures adherence to master plans schedules solutions to program problems and ensures programs are consistently delivered and maintained. The Program Manager provides technical guidance to other departments in Calpine and provides technical leadership to both internal and external organizations and entities.

Job Responsibilities

• This individual regularly utilizes technology and will be the department lead for EHS related software and reporting.
• Applies advanced skills contributing to knowledge areas within function but not yet an expert in all.
• Provides technical expertise and support as needed to address EHS issues impacting business.
• Makes recommendations on moderately complex issues regarding project components and tasks.
• May make recommendations on new processes tools and services; supports and contributes to the development of new products services or techniques.
• Works on problems of diverse scope ranging from moderate to complex.
• Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors. Collaborates with senior professionals in the selection of methods techniques and analytical approach.
• Little instruction on day-to-day work general instructions on new assignments.
• Serves as project/technical lead on small to medium-sized projects; may coordinate work of professionals technicians and others outside of own department.
• Works within specific guidelines and procedures and is frequently required to interpret the application of policies/procedures/technical methods for others; often required to apply ingenuity and originality.
• Resource integrator builds professional networks and identifies and connects resources to achieve goals. Regularly contributes actionable ideas in brainstorming and planning sessions.

Job Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in a Science Engineering or other closely related field of study.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced computer skills
• % travel required

Preferred Qualifications

• Substantial knowledge of environment permitting and reporting.
• Seasoned professional with advanced applied experience
• Professional EHS related certification
• Previous experience as a software super-user
