Job Description

Angott Search Group is pleased to partner with a $2 billion Michigan bank in their search for an Assistant Controller.

The Assistant SEC Controller will play a critical role in managing the Banks external financial reporting and ensuring full compliance with SEC regulations. This position will support the Controller in overseeing SEC reporting SOX compliance and technical accounting matters while coordinating with auditors regulators and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP SEC requirements and banking industry reporting standards along with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 58 years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience preferably with public companies or financial institutions.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
  • Experience with public banking institutions CECL and regulatory reporting a plus.
  • Proficiency with Workiva Abrigo or similar financial reporting systems preferred.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
