Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to optimize the clinical learning environment work environment and service to patients. The Service Line director collaborates with Executive Leaders Chairs and stakeholders to ensure interdepartmental alignment and collaboration to drive organizational success. This includes people leadership budget and financial accountability contracts resource coordination and coordination of program administrative support. This role services as a liaison for departments and stakeholders internally and externally in the county region and state.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for implementation for growth and business development strategy for the Internal Medicine Specialty Service Line.

  • Collaborates with the Director of Operations and Director of Nursing to optimize Internal Medicine Specialty practice operations.

  • Develops educational and clinical consult and outreach strategies.

  • Collaborates to design effective referral processes to ensure timely access and coordination to the appropriate level of care including Implementation of interprofessional consults.

  • Collaborates with GME program directors to ensure the Adult Medicine Service Line strategy provides high-quality training opportunities training opportunities for learners integrating educational goals into operational workflows to enhance both patient care and learning outcomes.

  • Collaborates with Population Health and the Office of Sponsored Programs to align the programmatic initiatives with organizational goals and ensures program requirements are being met.

  • Manages Internal Medicine Clinical Programs Including Endocrine and hospital based adult services and explores opportunities to expand access to internal medicine specialty services and graduate medical education programs.

  • Responsible for overall management of talent for the Internal Medicine Specialty Service Line; partners with the Chair or applicable role to ensure optimal recruitment retention and continuous performance management of faculty staff and learners.

  • Provides supervision of educational personnel recruitment and support of faculty and advanced practice providers (APPs) and fostering the success of learners which involves direct engagement in academic and teaching environments.

  • In partnership with the Chair fosters the culture so as to focus on: equity accountability engagement patient/learner experience collaboration and quality of the clinical educational and research programs in accordance with the mission of MAHEC.

  • Partners closely with organizational leaders and Clinic Management teams for successful clinical operations and optimal patient/learner experience where applicable.

  • Responsible for Internal Medicine Specialty service line strategic metrics and measures; Partners with Quality and Analytics leaders to develop data dashboards and measures to ensure success; analyzes key trends in operations and education.

  • Uses data to track learner outcomes measure educational program success and identify areas for improvement integrating data-driven decision-making into academic strategies.

  • Partners closely with the Medical Director and Quality Improvement Team to drive success of clinical performance measures where applicable.

  • Responsible with the Director of Operations and Director of Nursing to ensure productivity and financial goals for the service line are achieved.

  • Collaborates with department chairs to oversee productivity expectations and incentives for clinical providers where applicable.

SPECIFIED SKILLS

COMPUTER

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word Excel PowerPoint and database applications .

FOREIGN LANGUAGE

  • Spanish speaking skills preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed stretcher etc.).

  • Occasional (0 - 33% of Workday).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administrative personnel (where applicable)

  • Business office personnel (where applicable)

  • Clinical personnel (where applicable)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in healthcare administration business or other related field with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in a healthcare environment including budgeting and supervisory experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in healthcare administration.

  • Clinical administration leadership to include billing and collections.

  • Demonstrated experience using a systems approach for quality improvement initiatives.

REQUIRED LICENSES:

  • Valid NC Drivers License.

SCHEDULE:

Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend holiday or evening coverage is occasionally . Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments or evening activities as requested by the team leader.
