Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Unit Manager who will be responsible and accountable for the therapeutic administrative and management functions of the Residential Treatment Center unit and provides direct supervision of the direct care staff. The Unit Manager provides visible leadership presence on the unit and within the therapeutic milieu. This position collaborates and coordinates with the unit psychiatrist therapist and the rest of the treatment team to ensure the consistent implementation of the programs policy and philosophy of residential care and treatment. The work schedule may vary based on the need of the manager to observe coach and support their team. The Unit Manager should be prepared to be present at a minimum two evenings during the week and one weekend shift to ensure the opportunity for contact will all direct reports. The work schedule is: flexible 9-5pm including 2 evenings and 1 weekend day total 37.5 hours weekly

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Home Visitor I (421000):

  • A minimum of a home based CDA credential or comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an associates or bachelors degree.
  • Associates Degree in social services human development or related field is preferred; a working knowledge of infant toddler development and. social work or case management experience is preferred.

St. Vincents Villa provides comprehensive residential treatment for children ages 5-13 whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to community-based interventions and services.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors the therapeutic and physical environment of the unit to ensure a clean safe and organized milieu for the children and staff. Reinforces an environment of care which is trauma-informed developmentally appropriate and therapeutically responsive to the needs of the children.
  • Follows trauma-informed care philosophy Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) model to influence and guide programming and all interactions with children families and colleagues.
  • Manages a team of 8-10. Hires orients trains evaluates coaches motivates sets schedules for approves payroll and effectively supervises direct care staff.
  • Provides an active and visible leadership presence within the milieu. As such the Unit Manager must be prepared to be present within the milieu at a variety of days and times including evenings and weekends. Also requires regular monitoring of the video cameras when not present in the unit.
  • This position requires accessibility by cell phone when away from the program and responds on-site for unit emergencies.
  • Leads weekly unit staff meetings and takes a leadership role along with the psychiatrist and therapist in treatment team meetings.
  • Collaborates with team members to develop and monitor the Individual Service Plans and Individualized Crisis Management Plans.
  • Completes admissions to the unit/program.
  • Attends weekly treatment team meetings to develop and monitor the ISPs and ICMPs.
  • Manages the units budget by approving expenditures of unit staff and monitoring all expenditures to ensure appropriate use of agency resources. Ensures proper coverage and monitors overtime for budgetary purposes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director of Clinical Services Program Director for Outcomes and Utilization Management Discharge Care Coordinator and Admissions Coordinator
  • Becomes a CARE Educator or Coach.
  • Facilitates the Consumer Quality Team visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in human services plus post graduate education or training in the areas of nursing healthcare mental health education or childcare.
  • 5 years experience in a residential treatment environment 3 of which must be at a supervisory/management level.

  • Ability to utilize or willingness to learn computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions (Basic computer web browsing online training and email usage skills).
  • Thorough knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Medium work that includes moving objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Physically able to perform moves and holds outlined in TCI training; able to assist in physical restraints if needed.
  • Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience and a valid drivers license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
