Job Summary:
This role is responsible for patient registration and pre-registration for both inpatient and outpatient accounts at healthcare facilities. Key functions include calculating patient liability securing payments (copayments coinsurance deductibles) and ensuring efficient and accurate processing of accounts while maintaining a hospitable environment for patients. The position requires strong communication and customer service skills along with knowledge of various insurance programs and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Perform all tasks related to registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts.
- Calculate and secure patient liability including copayments coinsurance and deductibles.
- Verify patient insurance coverage.
- Ensure accurate and efficient processing of patient accounts.
- Maintain a hospitable and professional demeanor when interacting with patients.
- Adhere to all HIPAA laws and regulations.
- Scan documents and maintain accurate records.
- Verify patients are appropriately medically screened and stabilized before Consent of Admissions is signed/discussed and or liability is requested.
- Complete a minimum of 20 registrations per 8-hour shift striving for 30.
- Communicate effectively with staff patients guarantors insurance companies and physicians.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills (Word Excel) and ability to navigate multiple screens efficiently.
- Multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel to off-site locations (outpatient only).
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 2 years of experience in front office/medical billing and/or hospital registration/admitting.
- 2 years of experience in insurance verification and/or medical/hospital billing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Medi-Cal Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Program Medicare Covered California Cobra limited benefit plans VVC and Uncompensated Care Programs.
- Knowledge of IPA and EMTALA.
- Stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws.
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Strong typing skills (45 wpm).
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within three months of hire.
- LA City Fire Card within six months of employment (PIHGS Only).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Evidence of continuing education in Finance Accounting or Business Administration.
- Bilingual skills.
Special Considerations:
- No remote work option (RTO) for the first two weeks. RTO requests once submitted cannot be changed except to cancel.
- Must work every Saturday Sunday and Monday.
- Orientation hours may differ from shift times.
Scheduling:
- Part-time night shift (3x8s).
- Shift: 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM.
- Schedule requires working every Saturday Sunday and Monday.
