- Performs interventional radiology procedures using ionizing radiation under physician direction ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Assists in all aspects of invasive and diagnostic procedures including scrubbing circulating monitoring and recording hemodynamic data.
- Operates radiology and interventional equipment; transfers images to PACS and ensures image quality and proper identification.
- Positions and prepares patients for procedures ensuring optimal imaging and patient comfort.
- Receives and reviews requests for interventional studies; coordinates workflow for maximum productivity.
- Transfers patients safely between equipment wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Provides patient care during procedures explains processes and answers questions to reduce anxiety and gain cooperation.
- Applies radiation protection principles to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
- Sets up and maintains sterile fields; cleans and disposes of materials post-procedure.
- Assists physicians with administration of contrast media and vascular/interventional procedures.
- Participates in professional development and continuing education maintaining required certifications and licensure.
- Assists in departmental inventory management and equipment maintenance including daily safety checks and preventive cleaning.
- Supports vascular surgeons/interventional radiologists in both routine and high-pressure surgical procedures.
- Utilizes hospital information systems hemodynamic monitoring and PACS software.
- Performs all aspects of Electrophysiology (EP) procedures and keeps current with developments in EP.
- Consistently delivers excellent service to patients families staff and visitors.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; graduate of JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Five years of recent experience in Cardiovascular EP or relevant certifications (CI VI RCIS EP training).
- Registered by the ARRT and licensed in Massachusetts as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Current BLS ACLS and IABP certifications required.
- Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Exam or course.
- Ability to read write and communicate in English.
