Job Description

In this role you will apply your craft and passion to turn ideas into reality leading projects to design and build prototypes for our autonomous vehicle platform. Working closely with cross-functional teams of designers and engineers you will develop innovative AV hardware solutions that meet high standards of performance safety and scalability.
In this role you will:
- Design and build complex mechanical prototypes and assemblies in CATIA ensuring high performance and manufacturability.
- Accurately model surfaces geometries and assemblies for rapid prototyping and evaluation.
- Create detailed drawings documentation and BOMs to support fabrication assembly and testing.
- Develop tools jigs fixtures and molds to enable efficient prototyping of components and composites.
- Collaborate across design engineering and manufacturing teams to drive innovative AV hardware solutions.
- Research and apply emerging materials and manufacturing techniques to accelerate development and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Aeronautics Mechatronics or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design or prototyping; automotive experience preferred.
- Expertise in 3D CAD design for solids and surfaces; CATIA V5/V6 preferred.
- Proven ability to lead complex prototyping projects across multiple functions.
Bonus Qualifications
- Hands-on prototyping experience with machining welding composites or additive manufacturing.
- Experience managing suppliers to support prototyping efforts.
- Familiarity with documentation and project management tools such as Jira Smartsheet or Confluence.
$131000 - $207000 a year
Base Salary Range
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
