Job Description
The Laboratory Chemists purpose is to ensure implementation and utilisation of appropriate quality assurance and quality control systems based on the ISO 17025:2005 standard and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).The function of the Laboratory Chemist role has a specific accountability for quality control instrument and equipment calibration and a strong technical knowledge application.
- Technical support to the Laboratory Manager to optimize and continually improve operations of the laboratory
- Coordinate technical quality assurance/quality control functions of the laboratory in line with ISO 17025 requirements
- Optimise and continually improve the technical operation of the laboratory
- Contributing to laboratorys planning process
- Participation in general improvement projects
- Provide technical advice on analytical methods and equipment.
- Identifying knowledge and skill gaps and provide development activities and coaching
- Compliance with company quality assurance health safety risk social and environment management systems
This role is at a Band 7 level reporting to the Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications :
- BSc. (Hons) in Chemistry or Equivalent
Experience Knowledge and Skills
- At least 5 years laboratory processing experience of which 3 years should be at a management level.
- Computer literacy.
- Laboratory methods and equipment function and laboratory standards
- Valid drivers license
