Community Forward is transforming how women and vulnerable adults experience homeless services in San Francisco. For over 45 years we ve championed compassionate community-based care for those often overlooked especially women older adults and people facing severe medical or mental health challenges. We run the city s only 24/7 drop-in center for women experiencing homelessness and offer a full spectrum of services including gender-specific recovery programs medical respite transitional housing and permanent supportive housing. Our person-centered approach centers dignity empowerment and healing. Our team reflects the communities we serve many with lived experience of homelessness. We also lead systems change advancing gender-focused policy locally and beyond.
As Vice President of Client Services you ll lead and oversee Community Forward s non-clinical programs from our women s drop-in center to transitional and permanent housing. You ll guide program strategy supervise a team of Program Directors and ensure we continue delivering high-quality trauma-informed care rooted in dignity and equity.
You ll be a vital member of the executive team turning vision into action and helping shape the future of gender-responsive homeless services in San Francisco.
Oversee day-to-day operations of non-clinical programs ensuring they align with our mission and best practices
Manage budgets track outcomes and lead strategic growth across programs like the drop-in center housing and subsidy services
Partner with funders and city departments to secure resources and develop new initiatives
Supervise and coach Program Directors building a supportive trauma-informed culture
Ensure staff training development and performance evaluation prioritize empowerment and healing
Champion staff with lived experience and foster a culture of inclusion and professional growth
Maintain policies and protocols that ensure client-centered culturally responsive and trauma-informed services
Collaborate across housing healthcare and social service partners for seamless client support
Work closely with the Department of Public Health and others to meet integrated care goals
Oversee regulatory compliance and reporting to funders ensuring program integrity
Implement continuous quality improvement using data and client feedback
Represent Community Forward in community and citywide meetings

Master s degree in Social Work Human Services Public Health or a related field
Clinical licensure (LCSW LMFT Licensed Psychologist or equivalent)
Proven leadership experience managing social service or homelessness programs with complex teams
Strong skills in strategic planning budgeting and compliance within nonprofit or government settings
Deep understanding of homelessness trauma mental health substance use and systems of oppression
Passion for equity empowerment and trauma-informed care
Excellent communication collaboration and team-building abilities
Proficiency with Office and G-Suite applications
CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
TB clearance and proof of COVID-19 vaccination within 7 days of hire
5150/5585 Certification within 180 days of hire
Multicultural and bilingual especially Spanish-speaking
Experience working with gender-specific at-risk populations
Familiarity with San Francisco s billing systems (Epic) CalAIM Medi-Cal
Knowledge of local community resources and systems
Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods
Agility with hands and wrists for typing and computer use
Able to move through buildings and community settings including stairs
Comfortable managing interruptions and background noise
