Job Description

CANDIDATE MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE TITLE OF CITY PLANNER WITH NYC AGECNY OR MUST HAVE TAKEN EXAM #1112 OR EXAM#5045. CANDIDATE MUST BE REQURED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF EXAM TAKEN PRIOR TO THE INTERVIEW

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law preserve peace protect the people reduce fear and maintain order. The New York Police Department has a unique career opportunity for a Project Analyst to work within Project Management Office (PMO). Under the leadership of the Assistant Commissioner the Project Analyst will work with Project Teams within the PMO who are responsible for managing multiple project teams and the coordination and management of a portfolio of diverse projects that impact the Department. The Project Analyst will also be involved is responsible for the coordination and completion of diverse projects that impacts the community.

- Work directly on projects that affect the NYPD and the community to develop project plans workshops
events and carry out activities track progress and achieve deliverables.
- Create and use spreadsheets or other appropriate tools to manage tasks and keep up-to-date.
- Ability to multitask and work on multiple and diverse projects while supporting project teams in
achieving their goals.
- Generate various project-related documents including schedules project plans presentations
meeting agendas minutes and status reports.
- Prepare and deliver informative well-organized presentations.
- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
- Understand how and when to communicate difficult/sensitive information appropriately.
-Use critical thinking to solve problems and approach challenges strategically.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning; or

2. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to 1 above. Graduate
education in city planning urban planning urban design architecture landscape architecture transportation engineering public administration economic development or related fields may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree.

Special Qualification Requirements

Assignment Level III
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III individuals must have after meeting the minimum requirements one additional year of professional experience as described in 2 above.

Assignment Level IV
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV individuals must have after meeting the minimum requirements two additional years of professional experience as described in 2 above.
