Description

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service. This includes but is not limited to the management of clinical nursing practice staff recruitment retention labor relations supply chain and budget staffing employee performance evaluation quality improvement staff education medical records and internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.

The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision/management of patient care. He or she works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director unit Dyad partner and staff to ensure that the Service/Unit maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization.



Responsibilities

As the Operating Room Nurse Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the operating room ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and managing a team of dedicated nurses and staff members. There is a total of 51 Operating Rooms at the Mount Sinai Main Campus which are spread over 4 hospital floors and two buildings.

  • Oversee the daily operations of the operating room scheduling staffing and resource management to ensure optimal patient flow and timely surgical procedures.
  • Staff Managementrecruitment retention labor relations employee performance evaluation staff education and staff schedules.
  • Work closely with surgeons anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a smooth and safe surgical experience.
  • Performance/quality improvement projectsinternal and external requirements andimplement procedural and policy changes to improve operations.
  • Ensures standards and regulations of accrediting agencies such as the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Standards (JCAHO) and New York State and City Department of Health are met.

  • Maintenance implementation and evaluation of Quality Performance Initiatives.
  • Prepare and review operational reports and schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

  • Lead patient experience/satisfaction metrics and surveys.
  • Supply chain -Recommends cost-saving methods such as supply changes and disposal of records to improve the efficiency of the department.

  • Budget -Assist in the development and management of the operating room budget ensuring efficient use of resources and supplies while maintaining high standards of patient care.

  • Chairs department committees and participates in hospital committees as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required.
  • Master in nursing or health-related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of applicable nursing clinical care and Charge Nurse/Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have relevant clinical competence in the area of nursing practice assigned
  • Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $115494.00 - $173241.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and operational needs. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentives differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
