Grade/Class: Grade E Exempt PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Through a special partnership between ADL and UJA the Assistant Regional Director directs and oversees all aspects of the Words to Action (WTA) education and community programs for Jewish teens and young adults in the New York area. WTA programs are designed to offer young Jews the tools to combat antisemitism and will be implemented via customized Words to Action programming in synagogues Jewish day schools JCCs and colleges based on institutional needs.

The Assistant Regional Director will also respond to antisemitic incidents reported to the New York/New Jersey Regional Office collaborating with regional and national teams as needed on these and a variety of other opportunities. This position will manage the regions Glass Leadership Institute ADLs program for young professionals that provides them an insiders perspective of ADLs programs and a deep understanding of the latest strategies employed to combat antisemitism and hate.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Market coordinateandimplement Words to Action programsgeared towards Jewish teens/young adults with localeducational institutions programs are designed to teach these individuals how to respond to antisemitism.
  • Developtraining agendasbased on regional needs oversee and monitor evaluation efforts for programs.
  • Recruit supervise and evaluate facilitators coordinate schedules and assignments and plan and oversee professional development opportunities.
  • Generate contracts maintain client databases oversee budget and provide required reports on activities.
  • Respond to and help resolve for constituents their sensitive complaints of discrimination antisemitism and other civil rights issues. Conduct routine fact-finding research and coordinate with partners. Resolve complaints or refer to senior staff as necessary. Maintain required records.
  • Monitor the news and social media for antisemitic incidents to submit for inclusion in ADLs Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents. Assist Regional Operations team with processing incidents received from external partners.
  • Develop community relationships and network with other community groups to facilitate effective community action.
  • Respond to inquiries from members of the public demonstrating a working knowledge of both ADLs policies and positions and relevant local national and world events.
  • Lead ADLs Glass Leadership Institute (ADLs program for young professionals) providing monthly sessions a welcome and closing retreat and attending ADLs conferences including its National Leadership Institute and Never is Now.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good writing and editing skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Work Experience:

  • One to two years of progressively responsible human relations or community service experience including some program management experience.

Education:

  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.

Work Environment:

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.
