The Director of RCM Operations for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS)and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) (which includes the MSHS and the Faculty Practice Plan) is responsible for driving cost-to-collect performance developing and managing operational budgets and producing executive-level presentations that inform strategic decision-making. The Director partners closely with executive leadership operational teams and finance to ensure that revenue cycle operations meet the highest standards of performance compliance and patient-centered service.
The Director of RCM Operations plays a critical leadership role in advancing Mount Sinai Health Systems mission of delivering exceptional patient care by ensuring the efficiency financial strength and operational excellence of our enterprise Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) function.
The Director will partner cross-functionally with internal RCM leaders IT Finance Legal and external partners to ensure vendor-delivered services meet or exceed contractual obligations and support enterprise revenue cycle transformation initiatives.
The Director will report to the System Vice President of RCM Operations
ResponsibilitiesOperational Excellence
- Lead daily leadership RCM operational activities across front middle and back-end functions to optimize performance and ensure alignment with system-wide priorities.
- Monitor and manage cost-to-collect performance identifying and implementing cost-reduction and process improvement strategies.
- Oversee annual and multi-year budget planning monitoring/working with RCM areas to explain variances and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Develop and manage department-level KPIs dashboards and operational scorecards.
Executive Reporting & Strategic Planning
- Prepare analyze and deliver executive presentations to senior leadership including the CFO COO and Board Committees.
- Translate complex operational and financial data into clear actionable insights to inform strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership to create and evaluate business cases ROI analyses and strategic investment proposals.
- Assist with pro-Formas and investment presentations including due diligence.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Build develop and mentor a high-performing RCM operations team fostering a culture of accountability innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical operational IT and finance teams to align RCM initiatives with organizational goals.
- Champion Mount Sinais values of integrity excellence teamwork and patient-centered care in all activities.
Essential Functions of Position
- Maintain strong understanding of revenue cycle metrics and build processes to enhance analytical capabilities process improvement identification and technology enhancements.
- Maintain strong understanding of various system functionalities and lead team in identifying and implementing improvements for performance workflow and cost-to-collect reduction.
- Build effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across departments.
- Resourceful in creating or fine-tuning the processes necessary to complete the work along with the ability to organize people and activities.
- Challenge existing norms or courses of action to facilitate fully informed decision-making. Help institute balanced decision-making by identifying risks and opportunities.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with revenue cycle leaders key stakeholders and foster a strong working relationship with key strategic partners.
- Provide leadership and support governance processes to result in effective efficient standardized and compliant practices.
- Create feedback loops and enhancement pipelines informed by stakeholders and data.
- Maintain strong understanding of revenue performance metrics and payer mix.
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA privacy and security standards.
- Conform to the established policies/ procedures/ processes/ Standards of Behavior.
- Performs other duties as required by the System Vice President of RCM
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in healthcare administration Business Administration Finance or related field required.
- Masters degree in business or healthcare administration preferred.
- 810 years of progressive leadership experience in revenue cycle operations within a hospital or large health system.
- Demonstrated success managing cost-to-collect budgeting and financial performance in a complex healthcare environment.
- Proven ability to prepare and deliver high-impact executive presentations and reports.
- Strong experience with vendor contract management and invoice processing.
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $127044.00 - $190565.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
