Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Attending Veterinarian to oversee an animal care and use program. This role will manage all veterinary medical activities ensuring the highest standards of animal care regulatory compliance and research support. The Attending Veterinarian will provide clinical expertise guide program development and serve as a vital partner to research teams regulatory bodies and animal care staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of veterinary care ensuring humane treatment and handling of animals
- Examine diagnose and treat animal health conditions
- Manage preventive medicine and disease surveillance programs
- Maintain accurate and compliant health records
- Monitor and implement changes in animal welfare regulations
- Participate in USDA inspections and AAALAC site visits
- Serve as Attending Veterinarian and voting member of the IACUC including protocol review inspections and policy development
- Support animal welfare program initiatives and continuing education
- Advise investigators IACUC members and animal care staff on regulatory requirements and animal models
- Support development of new animal models and procedures
- Provide guidance on literature searches for alternatives
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
Education
Master s Degree in a related field.
