POSITION SUMMARY:
HPU Health- Oral Health Network is a dental network that provides primary and specialty oral health care services part of the High Point University Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM).
This is a full-time 12-month non-tenure track faculty appointment with duties in the High Point University Workman School of Dental (WSDM) which includes the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and post-doctoral programs such as Advanced Education in General Dentistry Digital Dentistry Fellowship and Oral Oncology Fellowship. Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidates level of experience and qualifications at the time of hiring.
We are seeking a full-time Pediatric Dentist to serve in clinical and academic roles educating future dentists while shaping pediatric protocols across our facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent) active full dental licensure in the state of North Carolina(or eligible for North Carolina dental licensure)
- Completion of a CODA-accredited pediatric dentistry program in the US.
Licensures/ Certifications
Experience and Training
- 5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistryis preferred.
- Leadership experience and program building is preferrable.
- Proficiency in providing pediatric dental care in an ambulatory inpatient operating room and urgent care setting.
- Demonstrated passion for treatment and clinical supervision.
- Strong interest in residency program development is highly encouraged.
Knowledge Skills Ability:
- Robust verbal and written communication skills

- Strong ability to articulate operational and analytical data
- Clinical documentation diagnosis and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.
- Travel to oral health network sites
- Developing affiliations with associated healthcare systems (childrens hospitals)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Dean the Director of Pediatric Dentistry and the executive leadership team (ELT). We are seeking a full-time Pediatric Dentist to serve in clinical and potential academic roles educating future dentists while shaping pediatric protocols across our facilities. The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties including but not limited to:
- Patient Care: Help address a major gap in pediatric oral health in the Triad region. You will serve the community by treating patients in world class offices and hubs ensuring high-quality and compassionate outcomes.
- Teach and Mentor: Deliver and teach clinical instruction in pediatric dentistry to predoctoral students and AEGD residents.
- Develop a Residency Pathway: Play an integral role in designing and launching a Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program with potential to serve as Program Director.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside top-tier faculty in orthodontics oral and maxillofacial surgery oral medicine prosthodontics and more to provide coordinated care.

Quality Assurance
- Implementation of quality improvement (QI) measures across the Pediatric Dentistry program to ensure the highest level of patient care and student learning is always provided.
- Utilizing proactive approaches to mitigate errors and root cause analysis to reduce errors.
- Frequent travel to practice sites to ensure faculty and resident experiences are met.
Accreditation
- Developing the pediatric dental practice at the Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM).
- Ensure all standards required by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA). This includes preparation for internal program audit (mock visits) and ensuring compliance of all practice sites within the oral health network.
Education
- Assist in the development of the pre-doc curriculum faculty calibration evidence-based care guidelines continuing education and teaching pre-doctoral students in accordance with the needs of the Assistant Dean of Curriculum and Innovation.
- True potential to create or assist in the foundation of a residency curriculum.
Accountability:
- Chief Dental Officer Dean Director of Pediatric Dentistry
- Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews are conducted along with an annual assessment by the CDO and include input from the faculty and students.
