Location: Coastal Project Sites (Chennai Visakhapatnam Cochin and Kolkata) Dry & Wet Shipyards
Department: Engineering & Menufacting (Marine Projects & Infrastructure)
Employment Type: Full-Time Contractual (12 24 Months)
Compensation: 45000 - 75000 INR

As part of our expansion into maritime engineering we are executing turnkey projects involving shipbuilding dry dock repairs and floating dock (wet dock) maintenance for both defense and commercial marine vessels.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly capable and operationally disciplined Project Manager preferably a retired General Engineering Officer from the Indian Navy to lead our maritime construction and repair projects at designated coastal yards. The role involves strategic planning on-ground execution technical governance and direct reporting to the executive leadership on project status compliance and workforce performance.

The ideal candidate will bring a naval officer s leadership ethos deep technical proficiency in ship systems and marine maintenance and the ability to manage complex shipyard operations within stringent SLAs and cost parameters.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead the execution of dry and wet dock repair and shipbuilding projects in alignment with defined scope quality standards and client SLAs.

  • Develop daily and weekly execution schedules aligned to deliverables tied with penalty clauses and contractual milestones.

  • Monitor timelines cost centers and manpower utilization to ensure budget control.

Operations & Manpower Oversight

  • Supervise skilled and semi-skilled workforce across shipyard functions welding piping hull fabrication machinery fitting electricals and painting.

  • Enforce naval-style discipline task ownership and safety compliance on the shop floor.

  • Bridge operational directives between technical heads yard supervisors and subcontractors.

SLA Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure full compliance with client-issued Service Level Agreements covering timelines safety deliverables rework rates and inspections.

  • Lead defect analysis root cause correction and re-certification efforts in coordination with class surveyors or client QA officials.

  • Maintain inspection records pre-commissioning logs and defect registers in required formats.

Tool Plant & Asset Governance

  • Oversee allocation maintenance and deployment of all Tools & Plants (T&P) including shipyard infrastructure and support equipment.

  • Maintain all compliance and asset usage documentation including:

    • Form A B C D Registers (Labour Attendance Wages Loans)

    • Site Order Register Work Diary Allotment & Material Registers

    • Defect Book Records (DBR) PPE Issue Logs Penalty & Incident Registers

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with client naval architects class societies OEMs and internal QA/QC teams for inspections testing and work approvals.

  • Serve as the principal site contact for all operational updates to the leadership team.

Desired Profile

Qualifications

  • Retired Commissioned Officer Indian Navy (Engineering Branch) preferably Lieutenant Commander or Commander Rank.

  • Degree in Mechanical / Marine / Naval Architecture / Production Engineering.

Experience

  • 15 20 years in ship engineering maintenance or dockyard operations.

  • Minimum 2 3 years post-retirement experience in shipbuilding or marine EPC is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in shipboard systems dry dock procedures hull & machinery maintenance.

  • Strong leadership and crisis-handling ability in maritime repair environments.

  • Proficient in project management tools (MS Project ERP/ClickUp) documentation and class survey interface.
