Position: Site In-Charge Shipbuilding & Repair
Location: Coastal Project Sites (Chennai Visakhapatnam Cochin and Kolkata) Dry & Wet Shipyards.

Mr. Garaz Technologies Private Limited is a multidisciplinary engineering and mobility solutions company with strategic expertise in transportation fleet maintenance infrastructure repair and mechanical manufacturing. As part of our expansion into maritime engineering we are executing turnkey projects involving shipbuilding dry dock repairs and floating dock (wet dock) maintenance for both defense and commercial marine vessels.

We are hiring a results-driven Site In-Charge to manage end-to-end shopfloor operations for our shipbuilding and repair projects in dry dock and floating dock environments. Reporting directly to the Project Manager the Site In-Charge will serve as the operational bridge between the workforce supervisors and project leadership ensuring daily progress discipline tool and asset control and strict documentation adherence.
This is a hands-on role requiring on-ground coordination register maintenance and active involvement in achieving SLA-bound targets with zero deviation.
Oversee all on-site activities related to new ship construction hull repairs mechanical outfitting piping and electrical system restoration.
Distribute daily work assignments to supervisors and teams based on the approved schedule scope of work and manpower availability.
Ensure smooth coordination between the shopfloor and the Project Manager for shift planning manpower updates and milestone tracking.
Maintain and control all Tools & Plants (T&P) used on-site including welding machines power tools scaffolding measuring instruments lifting gear etc.
Schedule preventive maintenance and calibrations and raise alerts for any deficiencies or breakdowns.
Ensure real-time and accurate maintenance of the following registers in compliance with internal SOPs and client audit requirements:
Form A Employee Register (worker-wise deployment & details)
Form B Wages Register (support to HR/payroll input)
Form C Loans & Recoveries Register
Form D Attendance Register
Site Order Register Records all directives issued by Project Manager or client engineers
Work Diary Daily record of operations output challenges and progress per vessel or section
Allotment Register Assignment of teams to specific vessels modules or repair zones
Material Issue Register Log of tools consumables and critical spares issued and returned
Defect & Breakdown Report (DBR) Register Documentation of tool/equipment breakdowns and actions taken
PPE Issue Register Records issue and renewal of Personal Protective Equipment
Penalty Register Tracks any non-compliance safety violations or productivity gaps for disciplinary follow-up
Conduct daily toolbox talks with supervisors and teams emphasizing productivity quality safety and compliance.
Enforce adherence to safety protocols PPE usage dockyard rules and client norms across all shifts.
Ensure readiness for internal and external audits safety checks and client inspections at any time.
Submit daily consolidated reports to the Project Manager covering:
Work progress vs target
Workforce deployment
Equipment health status
Material usage and consumption
Register completion and highlights
Observed risks delays or compliance flags
Diploma / ITI / Graduate in Mechanical Marine Fabrication or Shipbuilding Engineering.
Technical qualifications from naval or dockyard institutions are highly desirable.
5 10 years of hands-on experience in shipyard operations or industrial fabrication projects with at least 2 years in a supervisory/site in-charge capacity.
Experience in both new builds and repair/refit work of marine vessels is a strong advantage.
Familiarity with shipyard safety regulations class society protocols and mechanical repair workflows.
Strong documentation and register management discipline.
Leadership qualities to manage multi-skill teams and enforce compliance.
Working knowledge of MS Excel ERP basics and digital tools for reporting.
