- Lead the mechanical design process for HVAC plumbing fire protection and related building systems in alignment with project scope budget and schedule.
- Manage and coordinate all MEP design activities for medium to large-scale projects ensuring integration across disciplines.
- Oversee and review design deliverables ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code National Fire Code Ontario Electrical Code and project specifications.
- Provide technical leadership in BIM (Revit) design workflows ensuring accurate and coordinated models across disciplines.
- Interpret and review design drawings technical specifications and shop drawings.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of in-service mechanical and electrical systems including property condition assessments and reserve fund studies.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports repair recommendations and cost estimates for mechanical system upgrades or replacements.
- Facilitate design and coordination meetings with clients consultants contractors and internal teams.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
- Balance multiple projects of varying size and complexity delivering on time and to the highest standard.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and designers within the project team.
- Perform other duties as required to support the Building Services and MEP team.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant MEP design experience in commercial or institutional projects.
- Professional Engineer (.) designation in Ontario (required) with ability to stamp drawings.
- Proven experience managing and coordinating MEP design on medium to large-scale projects.
- Proficiency in BIM/Revit for mechanical design and coordination (required).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC plumbing fire protection and life safety systems.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards including the Ontario Building Code National Fire Code and Ontario Electrical Code.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical system testing commissioning and troubleshooting (asset).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed project records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid G-class drivers license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ideally located in the GTA with ability to work from both the downtown Toronto design office and the Mississauga project office near the airport.
