Job Description
Clearance: Must Have Baseline Clearance
Location: Canberra
Duration: 12 months (with up to 2 x 12-month extensions)
Hours: Full-time 40 hours/week
Experience Level: Senior (EL1 equivalent)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Server Engineer to join its Infrastructure Services team within the CIO Division. This role is critical to supporting the department s digital infrastructure and ensuring the reliability security and performance of its Windows Server environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level support for Windows Server environments including Active Directory Entra ID DNS PKI ADFS DFS File and Print services and Group Policy with AGPM.
- Manage and maintain systems monitoring and patching using Microsoft System Centre tools (SCOM SCCM/MECM) and Intune.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues including escalation and major incident response.
- Implement and support cyber security controls including application whitelisting host-based firewalls vulnerability scanning and device control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver ICT projects and BAU operations.
- Contribute to technical documentation including SOPs design documents and operational guides.
Essential Criteria
- Extensive experience with Windows Server technologies and enterprise infrastructure components.
- Proficiency in Microsoft System Centre products and Intune for monitoring and patching.
- Strong understanding of cyber security tools and methodologies relevant to government environments.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience managing Azure IaaS environments including template deployment and resource administration.
- Familiarity with Australian Government cyber security frameworks (ISM Essential 8 ACSC).
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
- Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions such as CyberArk and enterprise identity management systems.

Experience - mandatory for all submissions: The candidate MUST have minimum 5 years delivering business analyst services for government programs and/or projects (federal or state) The candidate MUST have demonstrated experience in technical writing producing high quality documents including requirements, guidelines, process maps and procedures The candidate MUST have highly developed communication skills including prioritisation, problem solving and relationship building The candidate MUST have business analyst certification (relevant industry standards) The candidate MUST have experience delivering solutions supporting legislative changes The candidate MUST have experience delivering change for vessel safety (road, air, maritime) or other applicable regulatory functions Desirable criteria 1. Experience - depending on the project allocation: The candidate SHOULD have experience delivering analyst related activities related to incident, emergency or first responder management The candidate SHOULD have experience developing or providing input into business blueprinting or other detailed non-technical outcome focussed overview documentation The candidate SHOULD have experience facilitating scrums with project teams using Azure Dev Ops to capture deliverables and outcomes The candidate SHOULD have experience developing business solutions using Dynamics365, SmartIQ (previously Intelledox), HTML forms, identity management services, portals
