Legal work for Manat Taonga is hugely varied and interesting and includes policy development and law reform public law procurement and contracting privacy and official information providing wide ranging legal opinions drafting taonga tturu applications to the Mori Land Court and Treaty of Waitangi related issues. As well as strong internal relationships we work closely with our Crown entities and other funded agencies.
Responsibilities include:
- legal advice to support development and implementation of government policy and legislation relevant to the arts culture and heritage sectors;
- advice on statutory and other legal obligations of Ministers the Ministry and the Chief Executive;
- advice and internal policy application relating to privacy and official information;
- drafting and reviewing contracts and maintaining the Ministrys contract management system;
- providing support to the Ministrys Privacy Officer.
This position is a member of our small and friendly Legal Team. The successful candidate must be able to hold a current legal practising certificate. Two to five years post admission experience is preferred however less experience will be considered based on relevant knowledge and skills.

A high standard of accuracy is really important in this role along with superb communication skills initiative and the ability to work to deadlines are essential.
