Job Description

Director of Finance and OperationsReports to: Executive DirectorEducation: Bachelors degree (related field preferred)Certification: Must obtain MCPPO Certification within one year of hireExperience: Substantial experience in finance/accounting with progressive leadership demonstratedPosition OverviewThe Director of Finance and Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the fiscal health operational effectiveness and compliance of the organization. This position provides strategic oversight of financial performance human resources facilities technology and key school operations working in close partnership with the Executive Director Board of Trustees and leadership team. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with the ability to think strategically about the schools long-term financial health including capital planning multi-year projections and salary modeling to support decision-making and ResponsibilitiesFinancial Performance Oversight and Compliance-Ensure the organization is managed in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.-Develop manage and reconcile the annual and long-term budgets.-Create and maintain multi-year financial projections to inform strategic planning and sustainability.-Lead capital planning efforts including long-term facilities and technology investments.-Build and maintain salary and compensation models to support teacher contract negotiations and workforce planning.-Responsible for payroll MTRS reporting and employee benefits administration.-Manage financial systems including Frontline (Absence/Time & Attendance) and Emburse procurement.-Handle all banking transactions: transfers deposits and reconciliations.-Responsible for Accounts Receivable Accounts Payable and the General Ledger.-Manage asset tracking monthly depreciation entries and all leasing/purchasing activities.-Administer and monitor entitlement grants and other funding sources: applications amendments reporting monthly drawdowns and compliance.-Maintain accurate general ledger and financial statements including journal entries and accruals.-Conduct financial analyses and prepare detailed financial reports for leadership and the Board.-Ensure compliance with DESE state/federal financial regulations charter school policies and financial legislation.-Manage all insurance policies: liability workers compensation medical dental vision and voluntary benefits.-Provide financial oversight of all program budgets (e.g. Food Service Athletics Enrichment After-School Clubs Homework Club Summer Programming).-Prepare for and manage the annual audit liaising with auditors responding to questions and comments.-Support the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees: provide reports analysis and presentations; attend all Finance Committee meetings and Board meetings as required.-Deliver timely updates on the organizations financial status to the Executive Director leadership team and other stakeholders.-Support union negotiations with accurate financial data including salary modeling and ManagementOversee the day-to-day work of the Operations Team including:-Information Technology network workstations website management-Human Resources policies/procedures compliance benefits and risk management-Facilities maintenance long-term planning and management-School Operations transportation food service campus supports-Enrollment/Admissions state reporting policies and processes-Administrative Services reception and support staffSkills and Experience-Previous experience working in a charter school or educational environment is highly desirable.-Strong background in finance accounting capital planning and operations management.-Demonstrated expertise in developing financial projections modeling teacher salaries and compensation scenarios and contributing to long-term strategic planning.-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; additional software experience preferred.-Excellent communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.-Highly motivated detail-oriented and organized self-starter.-Demonstrated ability to complete tasks accurately and on time.-Ability to pass CORI SORI and fingerprint background checks.
