Schedule: Day. - Monday - Friday. Applicants should be willing to work in-person approximately 10-15 hours per week and be prepared to occasionally work evening events. Days and potentially some evenings depending on student availability and event schedule

About the department / center:

The Disaster Research Center (DRC) is a university-level research institute. The first of its kind in the world this globally renowned interdisciplinary research center focuses on the social science and management aspects of is committed to advancing the state of the art in disaster research and its scientifically guided practice; educating the next generation of disaster science scholars and informed practitioners in the fields of disaster mitigation preparedness response and recovery; and creating gathering and disseminating disaster knowledge in a dynamic and responsive way.

Role Description:

The Disaster Research Center is hiring one-two undergraduate students to serve as paid interns for the 2025 fall semester with the opportunity to be extended through the 2025 spring semester. The ideal candidate is responsible proactive pays attention to detail and has experience or demonstrated skills through coursework in written digital and web communications.

The intern(s) will play an important role in developing and promoting communication materials regarding the Centers projects and initiatives in consultation with the directors staff and investigators. Some additional research and general office assignments may be assigned as required to assist with Center operations. This is a wonderful opportunity to build a communications portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Some additional research and general office assignments may be assigned as required to assist with Center operations.

Qualifications:

  • This application is open to freshmen sophomores juniors and seniors of any major.
  • Experience and skill with such programs and platforms such as Canva Mailchimp Microsoft platforms WordPress Adobe Photoshop and Instagram preferred.
