Project Engineer - Energy Storage

Overview of the Role:
The Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Project Engineer who is passionate about renewable this position you will be heavily involved with battery augmentation projects from conception through execution to include exposure to cross-functional teams across the organization.
You have the critical responsibility of planning designing and executing multiple energy storage augmentation projects. This involves exploration of subject area definition of scope engineering oversight and consulting across cross functional teams to deliver a best-in-class product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design engineering of electrical structural and civil aspects of utility-scale energy storage augmentation projects
- Manage multiple concurrent high volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution working closely with external Engineers of Record Project Managers and permitting procurement interconnection and construction teams
- Prepare technical scopes of work for incorporation into contract documents
- Support projects from conception through execution working closely with early-stage and construction project managers
- Influence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work including close collaboration with and oversight of external Engineers of Record
- Maintain familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical area
- Identify value engineering opportunities
Preferred Work Experience
- An SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and/or project management with established expertise in one or more of the following areas like Power electronics Battery storage system design Substation design and Generation tie design
- Design and/or operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants involving adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of construction methods including foundations trenching electrical terminations and testing and best safety practices
- Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistriespower conversion units and DC-DC converters Lithium-ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with UL1973 UL9540 UL9540A NFPA 855 NFPA70E NEC applicable IFC/IBC sections
- Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA)processes particularly in WECC and CAISO
- Construction permitting and contracting experience
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field from an ABETaccredited program
- 5 years of proven engineering experience
