HOURS: 1/day Monday- Friday

SALARY: $20.76 - $22.11

AA Degree - $0.50/hour extra
BA Degree $0.75/hour extra
NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
- Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
- Provide support or supervision during student arrival and/or departure to include but not limited to cross walk duty transit to bus transit from bus unloading and/or loading wheelchair bound students.
- Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus route(s).
- Assist with light cleaning issuing of equipment for necessary activities setting up taking down and/or supervising students during age-appropriate games/activities.
- Adhere to District safety policies and/or procedures as well as required program guidelines.
- Assist with needs related to diapering tube feeding toileting catheters and/or lifting. Additional pay is provided if performing these duties per CBA.
- Translate verbal and/or written information for the purpose of assisting students district personnel parents and/or guardians. (Bilingual only).
- Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
- Distribute documents and materials to appropriate staff students and/or parents.
- Assist with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- Assist with contacting parents and/or guardians regarding student behavior and academic progress.
- CPI trained or willingness to attend training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior paraeducator experience college or on-the job experience preferred but not required.
- Experience working with students who are special needs preferred but not required.
- Valid First Aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
- Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office equipment such as computers copiers laminators telephones scanners paper cutters book covering materials and/or step ladders.
- Knowledge in proper use of English in both written and verbal forms use of correct grammar spelling and punctuation.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records.
- Skill in operating standard office equipment including basic computer applications.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Understand and conduct verbal and written instruction.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with children with behavioral disabilities.
- Knowledge of de-escalation strategies.
- Knowledge of car seats BESI seats and/or seat belts.
- Ability to securely strap in wheelchair(s).
- Knowledge of general cleaning supplies and usages.
- Ability to establish a plan to address student behavior.
- Ability to follow safe work practices and/or procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff students and patrons.
- Proficiency in basic reading writing and math skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer applications data collection assessments and software applications to support K-12 education.
