Are you a dynamic and captivating host ready to ignite Canadas mornings CBC News Network Canadas leading live and breaking news network is seeking a journalistic powerhouse to take the helm of our award-winning program Morning Live.
Youre up before the sun rises and hit the ground running delivering news that captures the days pressing concerns and resonates across the country. Youre a master at navigating off-script moments with a calm and compelling presence. Youre ready to lead major event coverage elections and breaking news specials as needed with unwavering confidence and insight.
As a natural storyteller youre always helping others make sense of their world. You possess a fearless ability to ask tough questions driven by a curiosity about the issues and experiences that define contemporary Canada and the world. Your deep understanding of news and current affairs both domestically and internationally is unparalleled. Youre able to translate complex narratives into relatable terms. You relish the opportunity to shape programming always upholding the highest journalistic standards and practices and adhering to CBC programming policies.
As an ambassador of the program and of public broadcasting you embrace the hosts public role in the community through outreach and events.

This one-year contract full-time position is based in Toronto. The scheduled shift is Monday to Friday 3:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. ET.
Job requirements
Present live and breaking news on-air in a clear engaging and professional manner.
Steer multiple stories and topics on-air during breaking and live coverage.
Perform off script and be comfortable ad-libbing the latest details seamlessly into reporting especially where information is sometimes scant or changing frequently.
Pitch relevant story ideas guests and treatments.
Work collaboratively with producers and writers to develop show concepts and continuity.
Provide constructive feedback on editorial broadcast and production aspects of programming.
Research gather and confirm information from various sources ranging from witnesses and social media to institutions and agencies.
Write revise and vet intros and scripts to maximize personal voice for on-air.
Navigate live and pre-taped interviews.
Develop and maintain diverse journalistic contacts.
Travel to field assignments breaking news and special coverage as required.
Participate in public outreach and community events as required.
Relevant qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in journalism reporting and/or hosting or in a relevant field.
University degree or equivalent.
Superb journalistic skills and experience including broadcast writing storytelling interviewing researching and fact-checking.
Superior critical thinking and analytical skills and the ability to make complex stories and issues easily understood.
Deep understanding of news and current affairs in Canada and abroad with a particular knowledge or interest in the intersectionality and experiences of underrepresented communities.
Knowledge interest and ability to report on a range of topics including politics arts culture sports business and entertainment.
Experience conducting one-on-one conversations and panel discussions.
Experience pitching program ideas guests topics lining up interviews and preparing backgrounds.
Experience in news gathering in the field.
Knowledge of and creative ideas around the use of social media and digital platforms to connect with and grow audiences.
Proven ability to motivate teams.
Proven ability to work effectively under deadline pressure both independently and co-operatively in a team environment.
Knowledge of CBC editorial policies including CBCs Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Knowledge of an additional language (or more) is an asset.
Proficiency in learning and adapting to technology such as touch screens and newsroom computer systems like iNews.
Knowledge of social media digital and streaming platforms to connect with and grow audiences.
