Job Description

Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a motivated Contractor Assurance System Subject Matter Expert (SME) Causal Analyst to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Los Alamos National Laboratory supporting N3B.

The N3B Mission Assurance team are accountable for implementing an effective CAS through the implementation of contract requirements DOE Directives and industry best practices to demonstrate reasonable assurance that N3B management controls are effective efficient and drive a culture of continuous improvement. CAS achieves this by managing and supporting the implementation of an integrated suite of tools and processes for N3B designed to:

  • Measure outcomes document trends and drive improvement in performance
  • Apply an effective framework of oversight and assurance
  • Proactively identify issues/deficiencies mitigate risk and correct problems to prevent recurrence
  • Provide the platform for learning and improving.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

L&A seeks a technical subject matter expert(SME) focused on Causal Analyses. The CAS SME will be responsible for performing analyses and support driving the improvement and effectiveness of the Causal Analyses process. The SME will be responsible for performing and guiding the timely completion of effective right sized analyses to:

  • Identify and eliminate the causes of recurring issues and negative trends
  • Prevent small events from becoming large or more severe
  • Apply critical thinking and complex problem-solving tools to strengthen continuous improvement
  • Assist with coaching mentoring facilitation and training individuals in the performance of analyses
  • Periodically reviewing the overall effectiveness of the causal analysis program including associated training and qualifications and implementing identified improvements.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelors degree or 15 years experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in one or combination of the following: Contractor Assurance System elements; Accident Event Investigation Quality Assurance and corrective action processes
  • Expert level math grammar spelling and punctuation
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills to handle communication with technical and non-technical peers customers and stakeholders
  • Strong teamwork and customer support skills
  • Analytical ability and innovative thinking to solve technical problems
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening which includes a background check and pre-placement physical examination which includes drug screening and inclusion in random drug testing program; and be able to gain onsite access to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience on DOE sites and programs
  • Previous experience with nuclear or highly regulated / high hazard programs including experience with corrective action and Quality Assurance systems
  • Experienced facilitator
  • Experienced cause analyst and/or event investigator
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques (Lean Kaizen Six Sigma)
  • Experience with development and implementation of performance indicators.

LOCATION

This position can be hybrid but requires the ability to be on-site weekly on an as needed basis. It is contingent on ability to gain site access to LANL with an Uncleared DOE badge. to

N3B is based in Los Alamos Laboratory property and is a multidisciplinary research institution dedicated to enhancing national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction and solving problems related to energy environment infrastructure health and global security concerns.
