This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
This position will support the Science and Analysis (S&A) group in its mission to improve the science of stream wetland and buffer restoration. The division goals for mitigation projects include but are not limited to three basic functions: Water quality habitat and hydrology. The primary purpose of this position is to work with S&A and DMS management in the continued development of data-driven methods to support functional uplift. As part of a state-wide effort to improve flood resilience this position will participate in all phases of developing programmatic solutions and information related to stream wetland and buffer mitigation and their potential for contributing to resilience. This position assists the S&A manager and staff in research and analysis of mitigation/restoration projects. This position is responsible for assisting in the production and dissemination of data and documents as needed. The position provides technical support for project selection project tracking data collection and interpretation. This position also coordinates meetings develops and documents program plans procedures and reports. The position requires working effectively with all levels of state federal and private industry management.

Bachelors degree in one of the agricultural biological engineering environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
