Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in automated electronic assembly process engineering and SMT (Surface Mount Technology) equipment programming. This role will focus on optimizing electronic assembly operations improving automation processes and ensuring the efficient programming and operation of SMT equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in PCB assembly process development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

    • Process Development & Optimization:
    • Develop implement and optimize automated electronic assembly processes for SMT production lines.
    • Program and maintain SMT equipment including pick-and-place machines solder paste printers and reflow ovens.
    • Create and optimize machine programs for component placement ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
    • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Ensure process compliance with IPC standards and other industry regulations.
    • Equipment Programming & Maintenance:
    • Program and optimize SMT machines (e.g. Fuji Yamaha ASM Panasonic Mycronic or similar).
    • Develop and maintain stencil design guidelines for solder paste printing.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and improve throughput.
    • Work with equipment vendors and suppliers to maintain and upgrade SMT production equipment.
    • Quality & Continuous Improvement:
    • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for defects and process deviations.
    • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to improve yield cycle time and first-pass quality.
    • Implement and sustain Statistical Process Control (SPC) for critical assembly processes.
    • Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Work closely with R&D production and supply chain teams to introduce new products and processes.
    • Develop and maintain work instructions standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
    • Train and support operators and technicians on SMT process best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
$80000 - $100000 a year
