Join our team as a Forensic Laboratory Specialist and train to become a chemist specializing in fire debris analysis. This role offers hands-on experience in sample preparation instrument maintenance method validation and supporting our quality management system.

This is a full-time position that sits in the Rocklin CA lab working with a small existing team.

Must be a self-starter take initiative able to work with/without supervision and begin/complete projects independently. Must be available to work an 8-hour shift between 8:00AM to 4:30 PM.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To perform chemical analytical tests in accordance with established company and ASTM procedures and/or other accepted methods conducting experiments on organic and/or inorganic compounds and materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs routine and new laboratory analytical tests and procedures ensuring that all laboratory work is performed safely and accurately in accordance with established EFI global laboratory protocols.
Ensures that all samples are logged accurately and maintains appropriate chain of custody forms.
Prepares written reports of sample analysis utilizing appropriate and approved company format ensuring reports are submitted timely and accurately.
Maintains evidence storage and dispositions in accordance with EFI global laboratory protocols including maintaining the evidence database.
Ensures that all laboratory equipment is accurately calibrated and properly maintained.
Orders and maintains all laboratory supplies.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports the organizations quality program(s).
Travels as required.
This is a forensic lab and testifying in court or providing deposition is sometimes required.
Undergo continuous training to become an expert.
Attend environmental conferences to learn and network within industry.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
Four (Four) years of experience in a laboratory setting performing chemical analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Preferably have experience with ISO 17025:2017.
Skills & Knowledge
Good understanding of analytical/organic/forensic chemistry
Working knowledge of laboratory equipment especially GCMS and FTIR
Ability to solve problems with minimum supervision
Ability to communicate chemical terminology and analyses to client
Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills
PC literate including Microsoft Office products
Analytical and interpretive skills
Strong organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Detail oriented
Ability to create and complete comprehensive accurate and constructive written reports
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

As required by law Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only the range of starting pay for this role is $50518.00 - 68.640.
