The Financial Services team is seeking a dedicatedAccountantto join our team! In this roleyoullbe a part of a collaborative and engaged team that supports the entire Department of Law. This position is constantly learning andworkon a variety of unique accounting tasks with the primary focus being onaccountspayable. WHAT YOU WILL DO
This Financial Services unit provides fiscal management and support for all units within the Department of Law and to ensures that all purchases of goods and services made by the Departmentare in compliance withState statutes fiscal rules and DOL policies and procedures. The unitis responsible forcompleting all departmental financial transactions inan accurateandtimelymanner including but not limited to accounts receivable accounts payable encumbrances and budget. The unitis responsible forfinancial reporting to management andassistingdepartmental units with interpreting financial information and decision-making. This unit works closely with DOL Budget to plan direct and control fiscal operationsmaintainfiscal oversight andmonitorcompliance with various authoritative guidance (includingColorado Revised Statutes Fiscal Rules federal reporting guidelines GASB GAAS and other regulatory rules). Specific areas of responsibility include processing accounts payable and receivable legal services billing litigation expense tracking and reporting payroll and benefits administration grant accounting and reporting monitoring budget to actual preparing financial exhibits interpreting and implementing new accounting standards providing support for annual audits working under a delegation from the Office of the State Controller for all financial operations and other management reporting (internal and external).
This position is the primary accountantfor accounts payable for the Department of Law. The position is a first-level accountant and by usinggenerally acceptedaccounting principles this positionis responsible formanaging financial transactions with suppliersvendorsand others. The positionis responsible forissuing disbursements and payments to satisfy DOLs financial obligations records such transactions to ensure proper accounting records and ensures reports records and transactionsare in compliance withprofessional accounting standards State fiscal policies and rules and theColorado financial systems.This position creates job aids related to their accounting tasks manages workflow of accounting document submissions and ensures compliance with applicable State and departmental rules and policies as they relate to the assigned accounting tasks.
Salary note: Although a salary range is listed salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidates qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
