Job Description

About the role:

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Lead to join the Pricing Platform team and take ownership of the core critical business functions served by the team.

In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of key initiatives contribute to setting the technical strategy of the team and ensure we build robust and scalable systems while promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

You will have a direct and measurable impact across multiple Wise products thanks to the core position of the teams domain.

The Pricing Platform team sits within the Pricing Squad and is responsible for providing accurate and reliable pricing information empowering the calculation of billing information and maintaining transactional pricing controls. The team has a strong focus on risk reduction scalability and growth enablement.

How we work

What will you be working on Youll be a key driver of the teams technical roadmap partnering closely with our dedicated Product Manager and other teams within the Finance and Treasury tribe. Your work will directly enable new product features and business growth by ensuring our core pricing systems are reliable accurate and scalable:

  • Wise Platform Billing: Contribute to automating and scaling our billing solutions for our Wise Platform partners leveraging our pricing data to streamline critical business processes.
  • Drive Technical Excellence: Contribute to improving the reliability and scalability of our services through strategic modularisation projects aimed at enhancing the overall health and performance of our systems.
  • Control and Monitoring Services: Build additional control and monitoring services to proactively identify and resolve issues with our revenue calculation and audit layer ensuring accuracy and availability of pricing data.
  • Grow your Team: Mentor and help engineers in your team to grow whilst helping the team scale as its domain expands.
  • Lead cross-team initiatives: Collaborate with other product teams to lead key initiatives aimed to reduce risk improve scalability and onboard our products.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership guiding the team on architectural design code reviews and best practices.
  • Serve as a technical expert for the Pricing Platforms domain focusing on the persistence and processing of pricing audit information for billing and revenue control.
  • Drive initiatives to improve the reliability and scalability of our services through strategic modularization projects.
  • Lead the development of new solutions such as a service to automate billing and invoicing for our partners and additional control and monitoring services for revenue calculation.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers (junior and senior) fostering a supportive environment that promotes technical growth.
  • Work closely with other Engineering Leads Staff Engineers and Product to shape the teams and squads technical roadmaps.
  • Help the team navigate complex priorities and make trade-offs to deliver solutions that reduce risk and unlock growth.
  • Act as a key representative of the team collaborating with stakeholders across the company.

What do you need

  • Strong background in software engineering with experience designing and building complex scalable systems.
  • Expert in delivering reliable and robust services in a production environment.
  • Comfortable working on a complex domain and guiding a team through technical challenges.
  • Product Mindset Strong sense of ownership and the ability to think beyond technical implementation to understand how your work impacts the business and our customers.
  •  Experience working closely with product and stakeholders to define requirements and prioritise the most impactful work.

Leadership Skills 

  • Empathetic leader with a track record of mentoring and coaching engineers at all levels.
  •  Ability to lead by example inspiring your team to produce high-quality maintainable code.
  • Excellent communicator capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Haves: 

  • Experience leading a team in a payments fintech or other complex high-stakes domain.
  • Prior experience working on a team with a global distributed setup.
  • Experience building systems that serve enterprise clients at scale.
  • Previous experience scaling teams and systems for global reach.
