Job Title: Depot Manager
Location: Ashby-De-La-Zouch
Hours: Full-time flexibility required (typically Monday to Friday with occasional out-of-hours)
Salary: Up to 50000 (dependent on experience)

Are you a hands-on leader who thrives on making operations run smoothly keeping customers happy and supporting your team to succeed This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a busy depot at the heart of a leading national equipment rental provider.

As Depot Manager youll be responsible for overseeing all depot functions - including operations yard logistics and critically the Hire Desk. Youll lead a multi-functional team to deliver an efficient safe and customer-focused hire service. Youll take ownership of performance compliance service delivery and team development - ensuring every customer interaction reflects the high standards expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead support and develop the full depot team including Hire Controllers yard staff and drivers
  • Take day-to-day responsibility for hire desk operations - ensuring enquiries bookings off-hires and customer service are managed effectively
  • Ensure smooth and timely coordination of equipment deliveries collections and servicing
  • Manage depot performance across key areas: safety service profitability compliance and customer satisfaction
  • Build strong customer relationships and work collaboratively to meet their needs and maximise retention
  • Maintain high standards across yard operations including equipment readiness cleanliness and compliance
  • Ensure health & safety procedures and risk assessments are in place followed and reviewed regularly
  • Monitor hire fleet availability and proactively manage shortages or service issues
  • Liaise with central teams (transport engineering finance etc.) to coordinate depot activity and resolve issues
  • Track KPIs identify areas for improvement and lead change initiatives to drive operational excellence

About You:

  • Proven experience in depot branch or site management - preferably within equipment hire construction or logistics
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and delivering results
  • Experience overseeing or working closely with a hire desk or customer service team
  • Commercially aware with the ability to manage budgets spot efficiencies and drive performance
  • Confident in health & safety responsibilities and compliance management
  • Excellent communication organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities
  • IT literate - proficient with Microsoft Office and hire management systems (e.g. Syrinx Insphire or similar)
