Job Description


Hours of Work: Part-Time staff hours include rotating shifts (days afternoons nights) 2 shifts on weekends and stat holidays.


How You Will Make an Impact

Youth Services Notre dame House provides shelter to youth experiencing homelessness. Notre Dame house is a youth shelter for youth 16-21. The 21-bed youth shelter provides support to youth who are homeless including youth who have ongoing contact or involvement with CAS/CCAS/Probation/Youth Justice System/ AY/ADGS and other family counseling agencies.

Staff members support clients to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability flexibility adaptability hospitality and dignity.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for participating in Good Shepherds Health and Safety programs procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.


What Youll Bring to Our Team

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in social work/social services/child and youth services etc.
  • Have knowledgeable of and experience working with transitional age street-involved and homeless youth
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of working with transitional-aged youth youth homelessness and substance use/abuse
  • Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus
  • A proven ability to work independently taking initiative and thinking creatively are required
  • Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
  • Good judgement problem-solving and assessment skills
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employees responsibility under current legislation
