School Year: 8 Hours Per Day (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)
Winter Spring & Summer Breaks: 8 Hours Per Day (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)
260 Days Per Year

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Under the supervision of the Lead Mechanic the Journey Mechanic diagnoses mechanical problems performs journey level work and performs maintenance on buses and related equipment. The Journey Mechanic position also requires knowledge and experience in servicing a wide variety of vehicles.

Computer Palm Pilot Battery charger valve refacing and reseating machines compression gauges torque wrenches welding (acetylene and arc) equipment grinders reamers timing lights hoists jacks porta-power pumps compressors alignment board drills presses headlight adjustment machines air wrenches lathes spark plug testers and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.
Journey mechanic to provide the following tools: (Tool allowance provided)
Complete set of 1/4 square drive sockets standard and metric
Complete set of 3/8 square drive sockets standard and metric
Complete set of 1/2 square drive sockets standard and metric
Wrenches
Combination: 18 standard (1/4 - 1 5/16) and 18 metric (6 - 22 24 mm)
Open End: 6 standard (1/4 x 5/16 - 3/4 x 7/8) and 6 metric (6 x 8 - 16 x 18 mm)
Flare nut: 4 standard (3/8 x 7/16 - 3/4 x 7/8) and 5 metric (9 x 11 - 19 x 21 mm)
