The University of Miami UHealth Department of Imaging Services has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Imaging Services in Miami. The incumbent provides strategic leadership operational oversight and innovative direction for the full spectrum of Imaging operations. This role is responsible for developing and implementing policies procedures and performance standards that ensure the highest quality of patient care operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Imaging Services the Director partners with hospital leadership department heads medical staff and nursing teams to identify needs resolve challenges streamline processes and drive service excellence.
The Director is a visionary leader who fosters collaboration champions innovation and ensures Imaging Services remain at the forefront of clinical excellence patient satisfaction and fiscal responsibility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations Management
- Directs all aspects of Imaging Services including fiscal planning personnel management budget oversight audits space utilization inventory control and general administration.
- Serves as a trusted advisor and partner to the AVP of Imaging Services recommending and implementing innovative practices to enhance departmental performance and outcomes.
- Develops communicates and executes a clear strategic vision that aligns with organizational goals fostering a culture of accountability two-way communication and physician/staff engagement.
- Plans for service line growth by assessing current and future program needs establishing priorities and allocating fiscal and human resources to support expansion.
- Standardizes policies procedures and training across the Imaging Service Line ensuring consistency efficiency and adherence to the UHealth Systems mission and values.
Patient Access & Service Excellence
- Develops and implements strategies to improve patient access optimize scheduling and enhance patient flow.
- Champions a patient-first culture by ensuring exceptional service satisfaction and clinical quality across all Imaging services.
- Coordinates services across all UHealth clinical sites to promote integration collaboration and efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensures compliance with Joint Commission (JACHO) standards licensing requirements and all applicable regulations.
- Oversees credentialing certifications and accreditations necessary for Imaging operations.
- Leads performance improvement initiatives setting measurable goals and tracking progress toward quality and operational excellence.
Project Management & Facility Development
- Directs Imaging-related facility improvement and expansion projects collaborating with Facilities architects and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
- Reviews equipment purchase contracts conducts ROI analyses and oversee successful installations.
Fiscal & Financial Management
- Develops and manages annual operational capital and labor budgets ensuring financial stability and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Analyzes monthly financial statements evaluating performance against forecasts and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Conducts cost-benefit analyses to guide program development equipment purchases and service line expansion.
- Oversees procurement and inventory systems to ensure efficiency and cost control.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of current Imaging technology best practices and emerging trends.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high technical standards.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance clinical operational and financial priorities.
- Exceptional communication skillsboth written and verbalwith the ability to articulate strategy goals and expectations clearly.
- Demonstrated skill in building collaborative relationships with staff peers physicians and executive leadership.
Education Requirements
- Required: Bachelors degree in relevant discipline.
- Preferred: Masters degree in relevant discipline.
- Certification: Certified Imaging Professional (or equivalent).
Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Imaging Services or a closely related healthcare discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of technical experience in Imaging operations
