We are a 54 bed memory care facility.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation have an eye for detail and a commitment to creating high-quality dishes. This role requires both creativity and a strong understanding of food safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare cook and present dishes following recipes and specifications.
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
- Assist in menu planning and development contributing innovative ideas for seasonal dishes.
- Monitor food stock levels and help with inventory management.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- Follow food safety protocols and maintain compliance with health regulations.
- Handle equipment carefully and ensure that kitchen utensils are in good condition.
- Assist with kitchen maintenance and uphold cleanliness at all times.
- Participate in training new kitchen staff and interns as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role within a nursing home or memory care facility.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods ingredients equipment and procedures.
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Excellent time management skills ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and a team player attitude.
- Culinary degree or certification is a plus but not required.
- Passion for cooking and a desire to learn and grow within the culinary field.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods lift heavy items and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays.
