Primary Purpose: The goal of the Student Applications Analyst is to provide high-quality timely and accurate information products and services to district personnel at all levels to promote student success. This position has an emphasis on production data management and problem identification and resolution.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems preferred.
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Working knowledge of local state and federal requirements for data reporting and ability to interpret new requirements including the PEIMS Data Standards and Student Attendance Accounting Handbook.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office products particularly Excel Access Word Power Point One Note and Share Point
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in higher level programming languages such as Visual Basic SQL Oracle and data extraction methodologies and the ability to apply them to the needs of the student applications.
- Demonstrated ability to create complex reports by merging files from a variety of data sources.
- Knowledge and experience with microcomputer hardware/software.
- Demonstrated experience with relational database systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical material and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and training.
- Ability and temperament to adapt quickly to changing technical environment.

Experience:
- Minimum two years professional level experience utilizing student data applications systems including but not limited to student demographic data attendance accounting grade reporting scheduling special programs PEIMS discipline health services.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitors input of data scheduling of jobs to be processed and correction of errors for assigned Applications.
- Identifies and reports problems which may interfere with or impede the timely and efficient production of system jobs or state reports.
- Takes initiative in performing those follow up activities and support services necessary to produce timely and accurate computerized reports and products.
- Initiates activities among clerical and professional staff that encourage sound time management practices with respect to data collection and maintenance.
- Provides training and makes presentations to district employees in one-on-one as well as group sessions to enable them to properly implement and manage applications.
- Monitors and reports the performance of district staff as it relates to duties of managing and using the districts student information systems.
- Performs the activities required to schedule execute and verify assigned areas of responsibility.
- Develops produces and maintains written documentation and training materials for areas of responsibility.
- Promotes cost-effective and prudent use of forms supplies and processing time in the performance of duties.
- Reports and recommends changes or improvements to procedures applications and/or programming when needed for data collection maintenance and improved efficiency
- Receives frequent incoming calls from a variety of personnel on a broad range of problems and provides consultant services toward problem resolution
- Assists with PEIMS reporting process as well as other state and federal reports.
- Constantly increases knowledge of state & federal regulations & emerging technologies.
- Creates ad hoc reports and executes established job submissions and reports.
- Maintains computerized files and tables including student master files grades scheduling attendance historical and special programs.
- Performs complex reconciliation and correction tasks with respect to special populations data and/or data that is reported to TEA via PEIMS.
- Maintains a high level of proficiency in the report writing tools supported by district software writing and testing reports for accuracy and maintaining detailed instructions of developed programs and updates repairs modifies and expands existing programs.
- Ensures timelines are met.
- Provides technical guidance & leadership in the course of product development that ensures high quality products are developed & delivered in a timely basis.
- Constantly demonstrates a proactive attitude in securing information stays informed of applications software modifications & enhancements and anticipates customer needs & recommends solutions.
- Resolves technical obstacles & provides recommended solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Travels independently (local and overnight) to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Periodically works after normal duty hours and occasional weekends
or holidays to meet project deadlines or as directed by supervisor.
