Position Summary

The Coordinator Kennedy Mountain Campus Wellness & Recreation (KMCWR) Youth Gymnastics reports to the Associate Director KMCWR Youth & Competitive Programs and plays a vital role in supporting the KMCWR DU Youth Gymnastics program by developing programming ensuring high quality program delivery and increasing visibility and revenue of morning toddler and preschool gymnastics programs.

The Coordinator is responsible for the daily management promotion and operation of Ritchie Center Youth Gymnastics Programs for the University community and Ritchie Center members; including oversight of the following responsibilities including without limitation; morning program sales ($225000) program scheduling marketing and program promotion human resources learn gymnastics programs summer camp program coach education certifications special events and related programs and operations.

This position delivers an exceptional customer experience to all visitors of the Ritchie Center through managing the front line interactions that customers will have. These include parking facility entry and access transaction experience facility quality communication safety and servicing each customers needs.

Position will be required to work a varied schedule that will include mornings evenings and weekends.

Essential Functions

Program Administration

  • Oversee and provides leadership for DU Learn Gymnastics classes and camp programs.
  • Work with Youth Gymnastics Manager to develop class curriculum for new and existing morning classes and camp programs.
  • In coordination with the Associate Director Youth & Competitive Programs & Youth Gymnastics Manager develop program marketing plans for current and potential youth gymnastics participants and adhere to developed marketing plans throughout the fiscal year.
  • Manage morning gymnastics program revenue/expense budget in a fiscally responsible manner and achieve approved fiscal goals.
  • Utilize various existing technology platforms to execute programs including but not limited to: scheduling software pos system and facility operations communication system.
  • Be present during all programs and/or events; possess the ability to jump into the program to coach or instruct as needed.

Customer Service

  • Provide value to parents and youth
  • Model excellence through our service above self framework in all customer interactions to serve as an example for other divisional full and part time staff.
  • Always maintain proper uniform when representing the University of Denver and the Division of Kennedy Mountain Campus Wellness & Recreation.
  • Manage all communication centers to ensure information is accurate and available to internal and external parties. This includes general information contact information special details (parking closures etc.) and registration information.
  • Maintain problem-solving perspective at all times related to customer service interactions. This includes addressing issues and offering solutions.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Ensure all staff members in the youth programs area are CPR/AED/First Aid and Concussion certified and hold appropriate industry certifications prior to working first shift.
  • Ensure all accident/incident reports have been completed correctly and reports are properly stored in Connect2 and follow-ups have been conducted via phone and conversation documented within 48 hours of injury.
  • Ensure program staff is conducting safety checks of the gymnastics facility and equipment prior to use.
  • Conduct ongoing emergency response training and drills with team members on a designated schedule.

Personnel Management

  • Lead manage and develop a strong morning instructor team of approximately 5-7 student and non-appointed staff members.
  • Responsible for recruitment hiring and scheduling of part-time staff team.
  • Responsible for providing initial and on-going training for all morning instructor staff to ensure that all policies procedures and operating protocols are understood and executed.
  • Ensure that all morning instructor staff have completed necessary certifications/trainings and audit records quarterly to prevent non-compliance.
  • Day-to-day management and supervision of morning gymnastics staff including timekeeping policies and procedures training and annual performance reviews.
  • Schedule organize and lead informational morning gymnastics staff meetings and in-service training sessions as outlined in the Internal Operations part-time staff manual.
  • Utilize all necessary means to ensure adequate communication to all morning gymnastics staff. This includes using the Connect2 software email lists physical signage and any other means necessary.

Other

  • Support building-wide initiatives including but not limited to Rec Night Homecoming & Hot Chocolate Skate
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Staff Management: Motivate and build relationships with part-time staff to achieve desired outcome in relation to exciting and effective fitness and wellness offerings.
  • Customer Service: Engage and strengthen our relationships with students alumni and the Denver community.
  • Leadership: Motivate the team to act toward achieving the goals of the Division.
  • Physical Demands: Employee is regularly required to be able to operate work-related equipment. The employee must be able to frequently move about the facility with capability of transporting equipment or objects up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to effectively communicate verbally with customers and employees of the university.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts percentages and participation statistics. Also familiarity with financial concepts such as budget development/forecasting depreciation contribution margin etc.
  • Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or schedule form.
  • Other: ability to work with the public with tact and judgment. Excellent organizational skills required.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree and/or 1 years of program management/supervision experience
  • 2 years experience working with youth ages 18 months 6 years old
  • Knowledge of gymnastics programming for youth ages 18 months 6 years old
  • CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood Borne Pathogen; Concussion Training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
Varies; Position will be required to work a varied schedule that will include mornings evenings and weekends.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $25.54 - $28.60

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
