Job Description

SUMMARY

Monitor automated irrigation system to ensure that water orders are carried out for the successful growing of crops.

NIGHT SHIFT 6:00PM TO 6:00AM.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors activity of all farm pivots ensuring that crop managers water orders are being followed. Includes watching pivot movements start and stops water depths and degrees. Regularly record pivot activity watching for changes outside of the prescribed water orders.
  • Monitors activity of all farm pump stations to ensure pumps are turned on and off in coordination with water orders and that all systems are operating correctly.
  • Answers phone calls taking messages or directing to the correct person; operates truck scale and completes scale tickets to ensure commodities are documented; basic office duties to include filing or copying; helps to maintain cleanliness of office.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one or more months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of farm systems or an agriculture background is helpful.
  • Computer literacy is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates ratios and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
