0.889 FTE Core Grade 6/7 Teacher English Track
Shuswap Middle School
This is a temporary assignment effective September 1 2025 to December 31 2025 or to return of teacher to full contractual FTE.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary training)
- Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:
- demonstrated successful teaching experience with middle school aged students;
- current knowledge of the Grade 6/7 curriculum;
- ability to comfortably work with and respond to a very involved parent community;
- demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods;
- evidence of ability to effectively use current assessment practices;
- demonstrated ability to use effective teaching practices in relation to the three principles of learning;
- evidence of ability to motivate middle school students;
- committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
- ability to create a sense of belonging for students;
- excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a grade level team and the entire Shuswap Middle School team;
- excellent classroom management skills;
- understanding of middle school philosophy and adolescent development;
- understanding of restitution practices;
- commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children.
