As a Social Media Intern you will play a pivotal role in planning organizing and executing social media projects that align with our strategic goals. You will contribute to social media strategy development craft social media copy support social media governance and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring creative ideas to life. This role will support the Communications team on several projects and activities contributing to Alcons purpose of helping people see brilliantly.
In this role a typical day will include:
Social Media Management:
- Develop engaging social media copy and playbooks and manage internal approvals (Medical Regulatory Legal) through the Veeva Vault Platform
- Contribute to the creation of compelling multimedia contentincluding digital images videos and copyand execute and optimize social media campaigns across multiple platforms (Facebook Instagram LinkedIn YouTube etc.)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues across Marketing & Communications to bring creative ideas to life
- Support the development and implementation of Alcons social media strategies and best practices engaging stakeholders and partners
Social Media Governance:
- Monitor moderate and provide compliance reporting for social media channels on a ongoing basis
- Track and analyze performance data deliver campaign reports assess engagement and recommend improvements to maximize reach and effectiveness using key metrics and analytics
Project Coordination:
- Work closely with communications and marketing teams as well as agency partners to support integrated marketing and PR campaigns
- Assist in planning and management of social media editorial calendar
- Drive employee engagement and promote social media literacy across the organization
- Other administrative support tasks as assigned by the Communications team
WHAT YOULL BRING TO ALCON:
- Minimum: Post-Secondary University degree in progress or completed in a program of study such as Social Media Marketing Communications Public Relations or related
- Available for a 3-4 month work term at minimum
- A natural storyteller and clear communicator who creates compelling audience-first digital content
- Experience in and a passion for social media content creation particularly social video content creation is a strong asset. Strong knowledge of key social platforms (Facebook Instagram YouTube LinkedIn) and experience with social media governance and compliance.
- Solid understanding of social media analytics and paid advertising
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools and other emerging tools to enhance content and campaigns
- Proficiency in design tools (Canva Adobe Suite etc.) and skilled in video editing for quick-turn content for social media or internal communications channels is a plus.
- French language skills are an asset
