The Job You Will Perform:
The Safety Engineer provides leadership and support for the Safety and Occupational Health programs at the New Bern position reports to the Safety Manager to develop implement support and administer site safety programs ensuring the mill complies with all applicable health and safety corporate initiatives laws and regulations to achieve an injury-free workplace.
- Ensures the mills compliance with OSHA requirements and IPs health and safety program requirements.
- Serves as lead for specific safety programs to implement and sustain requirements and training.
- Integrates continuous improvements in safety systems and helps drive employee engagement to achieve desired results.
- Collaborates with mill employees to identify and implement improvements driving overall reduction in hazards through the use of programs such as Safe Work Observations Hazard Recognition and Crew Top 5s.
- Provides support to the department Safety Leads to help develop and implement health and safety training programs.
- Coordinate health and safety audit programs including corrective action plan implementation and tracking both internal and external.
- Works with departments on communications that promote safety performance and ensure compliance.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering or Industrial Hygiene or 3-5 years EHS experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of EHS compliance and regulatory requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; Presentation and delivery skills
- Demonstrated skill in organizing and prioritizing to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to accomplish EHS requirements and objectives
