The Department of Accounting and MIS in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware invites applications for a continuing-track instructor position to oversee outreach and administration for the Trust Management minor and to teach courses in trust management and business law. The beginning date for the position is January 5 2026.

Appointment at the rank of Instructor requires a Masters degree in Trust Law Tax Accounting Trust Management or closely-related discipline; candidates with a relevant professional degree such as a J.D. or a doctoral degree in such fields may be eligible for appointment at a higher rank. Appointment requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the field of financial services trust administration or the practice of law.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the drive and vision to innovate and maintain a cutting-edge instructional program. Teaching load is typically a maximum of eight courses per year with a one course reduction for service to oversee the Trust Management minor. This is a permanent position renewable with increasing contract renewal lengths (starting at two years and moving up to five-year renewals).

The University of Delaware is home to the first-ever academic Trust Management program at an AACSB-accredited business school which was launched in 2017-18. The curriculum is offered through the collaboration of faculty members in the accounting business law and finance areas and provides a comprehensive skillset in trust management as well as necessary grounding in taxation and estate planning. The Trust Management minor:

• Educates students seeking an academic focus in the field of trust management.
• Facilitates internship and mentorship opportunities for students interested in working in the trust industry.
• Promotes trust management as a foundations program and path that directs students into a myriad of career options.
• Meets the needs of employers seeking trust management training with real-time experience gained from mentorships and internships.
• Differentiates UDs Financial Planning major from competing programs by offering trust management as an optional core focus for students pursuing careers in the trust industry.
• Provides students a competitive advantage by strengthening the Delaware Advantage network between UD and the Delaware cottage industry consisting of trust companies registered investment advisors financial institutions law firms accounting firms and family office companies while also expanding connections to other key jurisdictions.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the drive and vision to implement an innovative cutting-edge instructional program and to be able to coordinate activities and relationship with the trust and banking community.

The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the Accounting & MIS Department and a secondary appointment in the Finance Department both housed within Lerner College. The Department of Accounting and MIS offers degree programs in Accounting and Management Information Systems.
