Main Responsibilities

• Contribution to definition of the segment strategy together with Technical Director Sales and Sector Marketing.
• Identify customer needs to acquire new business plan customer activities together with the sales organization (sector sales global key accounts direct sales).
• Identify trends in the market segment together with colleagues from Sales and Sector Marketing.
• Initiate and lead interdisciplinary Diamond-projects with project teams of technical AD staff marketing and R&D. Focus on modification of existing products.
• Interpretation of the results with subsequent presentation eg to the steering committee.
• Ensure profitability through sales of the developed solution as documented in the projects business case.
• External lectures in industry-relevant conferences and participation in industry and standardization associations.
• Introduction / mentoring of new segment managers and technical guidance of PhD MSc and BSc students.

Value added main objectives of the function

• The Application Development manager is the technical face to the customer with the ability to identify technical unmet needs and translate into product recommendations (sales opportunities) and/ or product development projects in order improve CA s offering at his/ her customers.

Work relations

• Internal: Sector Sales Global Key Account Sales Sector Marketing Product Line Management R&D Legal
• External: Developing customers (Joint Innovation Partners and Collaboration Aspirants) value chain development partners institutes industry associations.

Qualifications: Education skills experiences and personal characteristics necessary for success in this position

• University degree in natural sciences (chemistry paint chemistry polymer chemistry technical chemistry)
• 5 years of experience in technical sales and customer service in the coatings/adhesives or chemical industry.
• More than 6 years of experience managing technical staff and mentoring undergraduate and/or doctoral students.
• Business fluent English both written and spoken.
