About the Position
Girton Grammar School is seeking an experienced English Teacher to develop and deliver high-quality lessons to maintain and build on our academic success.
This is a full-time and ongoing teaching position starting in January 2026. Part-time applications will also be considered.
Your primary responsibility will be teaching English VCE and 7-10 helping students to develop a passion for the subject whilst developing their skills in both reading and writing. You will engage students in critical thinking discussion and analysis fostering a deep understanding of the subject and its real-worldapplications
As the English teacher you will deeply understand current research-based pedagogies and have a proven ability to apply them to the English curriculum. You will design a rigorous and robust curriculum that embeds cognitive load theory explicit instruction and the Science of the English teacher you will have a proven ability to write and deliver an outstanding English curriculum.
We are looking for an educator who can work in a supportive collaborative environment to write and deliver explicit lessons that will give students access to their preferred futures.

Key Selection Criteria / Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Appropriate qualification and current registration as a teacher
- A passion for teaching English in years 7-12 with a proven ability to write and deliver an outstanding English curriculum
- Understand current research-based pedagogies and have a proven ability to apply them to an English curriculum
- Demonstrated effective delivery of teaching and learning programs
- A commitment to professional development
- Excellent personal communication administrative and organisational skills
- Commitment to student wellbeing and child safety demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children including children with diverse needs and backgrounds
- Strong skills in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) especially as they relate to teaching and learning
- Commitment to co-curricular activities.
