The Fiber Planner will be part of AFLs Premise cable manufacturing operations. This position is intended to plan coordinate and sequence the launch of orders to the shop floor. This process includes but is not limited to staging natural fiber to be colored in UV coloring efficiently selecting and issuing optical fiber creating efficient discrete jobs and developing the appropriate shop floor paperwork required to process the job. The Fiber Planning work cell is to consist of a team of cross trained Fiber Planners. The Fiber Planners will function as a work cell frequently performing duties in support of all product line segments.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates all activities related to discrete job launch to the manufacturing shop floor including but not limited to:
- Interpretation of the daily production schedule to determine job launch timing and sequence
- Creation of Oracle Discrete job using production length targets provided
- Hooking orders to minimize process scrap and increase process throughput and make best utilization of raw materials
- Identify opportunities to use WOP inventory
- Make fiber selection for orders based on fiber characteristics with emphasis on fiber utilization and scrap minimization
- Creation of Production Shop Pack
- Manage the incoming fiber storage. Pull and stage fibers for coloring and create coloring discrete as needed to support production loading
- Manage incoming raw fiber storage
- Co-ordinate tasks with other Fiber Planners to accomplish daily demands
- Work closely with Fiber Planning internal customers
- Participate in any related improvement activities
- Follow all safety guidelines required of a Fiber Planner
- Maintain all required Safety Training required
- Adhere to and promote the environmental health and safety polices of AFL
Qualifications
- Demonstrated performer with 3 years of discrete manufacturing experience in cable manufacturing
- Current EHS/Quality certification and EHS training
- No pending active or a repetitive history of disciplinary action
- Dependable with exceptional attendance history
- Available to work overtime off shift and weekends with limited prior notice as well as rotating shifts when required
- Basic working proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Minimum Education
- High School Diploma/GED or 1 years of manufacturing experience
